Every Day Steps To Healthier Glowing Skin

Beauty begins with a good daily skin care regimen. By following these steps every morning and night, or at least once most days, healthier looking skin can be yours in a short time.
Cleanser
Washing your face takes only 2 minutes out of your day. Your skin is worth it and you will notice the difference in a short time. Wash your face in the morning before you apply makeup to unclog pores, remove impurities, kill germs, and wash away excess oils your skin produced during the night.
Wash your face at night to remove makeup, dirt and oils that your face accumulated during the day from being exposed to the environment.
I recently read an article by Eve Cameron, a noted Skincare Expert. Ms. Cameron explained that your skin ages eight days for every night you go to sleep without first washing your makeup off. Hhhmmmm, I know I'll be sure to wash off my makeup tonight!
Selecting the right cleanser for your skin type is equally important as washing your face twice a day! Many of us become overwhelmed with all the options available on the store beauty shelves and sometimes have no idea which one to choose.
To help minimize this confusion, cleansers are generally available in three different types:
Gels
Use a gel cleanser for oily and/or combination skin.
Lotions
Use a lotion cleanser for normal to combination skin.
Creams
Use a cream cleanser for dry and/or sensitive skin.
A quality facial cleanser will help clear away all impurities without drying or irritating. Many ordinary bar and liquid soaps are too drying and will not effectively cleanse the skin and free it of makeup and other buildup.
Just remember, if you have time to brush your teeth, you have time to wash your face. By developing a good skin care regimen and practicing it everyday, and you can say good-bye to clogged pores and say hello to radiant skin!
How
If wearing eye makeup or other waterproof makeup, use an eye makeup remover first with soft cotton pad or cotton ball.
Then apply the cleanser with fingertips or another clean cotton pad, using gentle upward and outward movements. Remove cleanser with moistened cotton balls or cotton pads or rinse with lukewarm water. Pat your skin dry gently. Remember to never rub or pull on your skin.
Toner
Toning refreshes the skin and restores the skin's natural acidic balance; it also removes lingering traces of cleanser.
Think of toner as the glass of water that your skin craves! When your skin feels dry and tight, this feeling is typically because a toner has not been used.
Imagine how thirsty and dehydrated you would feel if you did not drink any water throughout the day.
Choosing the appropriate toner is very important. In the past, toners were known to over-dry the skin primarily because they contained alcohol. Now, there are many quality toners to choose from such as hydrating toners and antiseptic toners.
Ingredients such as rose water, glycerin, hyaluronic acid and are very hydrating to the skin and can help to alleviate the dryness. They will help restore the moisture level in the skin. Tea tree and witch hazel are also beneficial ingredients in treating acne.
You can try a simple experiment at home to illustrate how essential it is to use a toner regularly. Take your moisturizer and apply it on top of your hand and wave your hand in the air. As you do so, you will notice the moisturizer will stay put and will hardly move throughout your hand motions.
Now try the same experiment, but first apply some toner on your hand and then the moisturizer on top of the toner. You will notice when you move your hand, the moisturizer will now slide.
Now imagine your hand is your face and the effect is the same. So when your skin is feeling dry, the key is not to apply more moisturizer, which just sits on top of your skin, but to apply the correct toner first then a moisturizer on top. Now your skin gets its glass of water!
How
Soak a cotton pad or cotton ball with toner and wipe in an upward motion, avoiding the area around the eyes, mouth. There are also face mists or spritz toners.
Moisturize
Finally, replace the moisture lost from the skin due to harsh elements like wind, cold, smoke, air conditioning, pollution, and anything else that we inflict on our skin. Individual moisturizing needs can vary depending on the skin type; climate, season (for example, lighter moisturizing in summer) and environment (for example if you are in air conditioning all day or out in the sun working).
A day moisturizer usually contains SPF (Sun Protection Factor) in it to protect you from the sun. When you go to bed, you do not need to use a moisturizer with SPF unless you are sleeping outside under the sun! A night moisturizer works well to repair the skin while we are sleeping and is usually applied best with a treatment such as a serum under it.
How
Apply moisturizer to fingertips and smooth onto face and throat and chest in light, upward circular strokes. When using an eye care product, apply before that first. Use sparingly and pat very gently onto you eye area, then wait a few minutes before applying moisturizer.
Night Cream
Your sleep time is your skin's best chance to repair and renew. Between midnight and 4 am, your skin is at a high level of dehydration. So the old saying is true - a good quality night cream enhances beauty sleep!
How
Apply night cream after cleansing and toning. Apply to fingertips and smooth onto your face.
